Ladies Night Out 2011 Friday, Nov 25 2011

Downtown Bend has so many things to offer and all relatively a short walk anywhere. I decided to take my ladies from A Sweet Event out for a night just to relax from the busy whirlwind of wedding planning season. This would also be a great idea to do with your bridesmaids, mothers and other girl friends just for fun OR anytime of the year. Our night included a make up and photo session, dinner & cocktails and a luxurious hotel suite to relax and unwind at.

We all met up at the Oxford Hotel known for their unique and colorful restaurant 10 BELOW and luxurious suites located in the heart of downtown Bend. Also a very popular spot for photo sessions.

Oxford Lobby

They also have meeting space for corporate meetings, concerts, weddings and others events. Call Staci Carsten, stacic@oxfordhotelbend.com, to get a property tour or more info about having your event at the Oxford.

Our make up artist Terri was all set up and ready to go upon our arrival.

Motives Cosmetics

She is very wonderful at giving us one -on-one makeup lessons during our makeovers.  After we were all “Beautiful by Terri” we stepped outside for a photo on the balcony.

I do have to say that modeling is HARD work!!  Smiling and posing for countless hours can sure tire a girl out!! LOL. But Richelle did a great job directing us and instructing us on how to get the best pose on camera.

Tower Theatre Lights

After all that hard work taking photos we needed to refuel and have some dinner so we took a brisk walk to 5 Fusion.

This has been one of my favorite places to dine and entertain my friends. Not only is the food incredible but their service is also exceeding my expectations. Lilian, the owner is always a pleasure to work with.

5 Fusion & Sushi Bar features distinct menus melding key elements of Asian and European cuisine into a tantalizing “fusion” of flavors.  Try the hot fusion menu, or sample the extensive sushi bar offerings along with an inventive cocktail list.  This award – winning restaurant offers guests a unique and memorable dinning experience at a reasonable price.

Just some of the incredible food we were able to enjoy.

Planning a celebration dinner or a party with appetizers and drinks?  The award – winning 5 Fusion and sushi bar is the place for your special event!

5 Fusion Holiday Menu

With our beautiful, private upstairs space, we can accommodate up to 50 guests, and can seat up to 100 in our combine dining rooms.

Bar, upstairs loft & downstairs

Executive Chef Joe Kim will work with you to create the perfect custom menu for any occasion and budget.

Next stop was VELVET, a local hang out  just a few doors down from Tower Theatre and 5 Fusion.

Known for their large glass “Bubble of Trouble” ; 1 full bottle of house infused blueberry vodka, house lemonade and Oregon Yerba Maté. Great for groups of two or more delivered in your own self-serve bubble.

View from Upstairs

Velvet is a great place to bring business partners, friends or just go grab a drink and some food after you hit the slopes.

While playing videos of snowboarding upstairs or listening to some hip music downstairs in the small gathering spaces/booths,  Velvet has an urban, mountain, swanky feel and everyone treats you like family there. Check out their menu at http://www.velvetbend.com/pdf/menu.pdf .

The Bar

Overall, we enjoyed the treatment and refreshments from every establishment and being able to walk around downtown on an October fall day was a nice touch too. I want to thank everyone who was involved in our Ladies Night Out and I would highly recommend any of these businesses to anyone who wants to have some fun and unwind during any of the planning process of a wedding or other event. I can’t wait til next year!!

A BIG THANK YOU to a new and upcoming photographer who put a LOT of time and effort into capturing this night for all of us to remember. Richelle Millsap, who is also recently engaged was able to get some questions answered about wedding planning from 3 wedding coordinators…How lucky was she!!??

2010 – Powell Wedding at Brasada Ranch Thursday, Feb 17 2011

I was part of Brasada’s event staff on the day of this wedding. It took place on October 23, 2010. The whole event was a success and everyone had a rocking good time! There was a live band that played for the reception and a man played a baby-grand piano during ceremony and cocktail hour. Most of the vendors were from Portland because the bride was Vice President of Powell’s Books; Emily Powell.

Here are some pictures  of their Big Day at Brasada Ranch.

When Wedding Party Goes BAD! Wednesday, Jun 30 2010

Once upon a wedding while the bride & groom were not looking……….

The bridesmaids and groomsmen took a wrong turn into the wedding suite.

If you ever just think about ransacking a honeymoon suite on the wedding night, you’d better think twice. This is what happened when the wedding party went wild and tore apart the honeymoon suite. DOn’t worry……the newlyweds found out and made the wedding party go back and clean up! But it still wasn’t the same as coming into a clean room after a LONG day. I have to admit it was a TINY bit funny, but not worth it!
